Blind Faith
Chapter 2
It has been 1 month already since Rin's job was transferred. She was back in the city 5 years ago where her love blossomed and ended.
While at work, her hands were typing on the keyboard as her eyes keep glancing at the clock.
(10 more minutes!)
She hissed, her eyes rolling back to the computer and continued to type. After awhile, she finally finished and stretched up her arms. Rin stood up from her chair and grabbed her handbag as she shoved her chair back to her desk.
The woman sitting next to her right groaned in frustration at the computer and then turned to Rin as she noticed Rin's hurry attempt.
Rin walked passed her quickly as she rushed to the door.
"Wait, Rin!" She called, but Rin shows no sign of stopping, "Where are you going?! What about our double date?!"
"Sorry, Ami!" Replied Rin as she pushed on the door's handle, "I have to go see Akira's play! I made a promise to him already!" Finished Rin as she stepped out of the office.
"What the hell?" She watched as Rin disappeared from the door, "When are you gonna be free then?!" She yelled at the empty door.
(Oh, shoot, I'm late!)
Rin glanced at her watch as she rushed out of the company.
(I hope the game hasn't ended yet…)
She fastened her pace as she headed down the street as if her life was on the line.
After some running, Rin reached the gymnasium. She hurriedly went inside and barely missed the last point of the game.
The silver head boy threw the basketball and making 3 points shot as the whistling blew out the last minute.
The number of the scoreboard changed to 16-34 as the game ends. People cheered loudly.
"Minami Preschool Basketball won!"
Rin heard the cheers and she smiled. She then headed down the stairs and head straight to the court where the game had ended as people were walking around. She glanced around her. As she spotted the silver head figure she rushed to where the team was.
"Akira!" Rin called.
The silver head boy turned around as he heard his name and his team also look.
"It's Akira's mom, Akira!" One of his teammates said excitingly.
"Mom!" He shouted as Rin stopped in front of him, "You're late. It's already over,"
"I'm sorry. Work just keep coming and coming, but I saw the last shot you made," Rin gave him a big smile, "Congratulation for the win." Rin pecked him on the cheek.
"Mom!" Uttered the embarrassed Akira.
"Oh, it's mommy boy," one teammate teased.
Akira cheeks growing red a little, "No, I'm not!" He retorted.
The team laughed.
"Congratulations to everyone too," Rin said with a smile.
"Thanks!" They all said with big smiles.
"But Akira's 3 points shot was so cool!" Commented one teammate excitedly.
"He makes it look so easy," another added in awe.
"Heh! With me on the team, no way we will lose." One of the teammates said proudly to Rin.
Rin looked at him with a smile, "Is that right…"
"But you haven't even made one basket," added another one bluntly, "Akira was the one who makes the most shots."
Akira didn't care. He just stood there, eyes looking somewhere else.
"S-shut up!" He faltered, "Akira was the one who didn't pass me the ball, alright?"
"Yeah, right,"
Rin watched them and then giggled, "But the reason you won is that you all work together."
They all looked at Rin and then nodded. Rin and Akira then left shortly after.
As they were walking to the exit and Akira was fixing his wristband, a girl came over to them.
"A-akira…" She stuttered as she called him shyly.
Akira tilted his head to looked at the girl and see her face was red. Rin watched the little girl as she fidgeted what she was going to say. Her big green eyes moving back and forth. Her pink hair was tied into a ponytail with a ribbon.
"U-um… C-congratulation…" Her eyes shut tightly as she said with her face flushed red and then quickly ran away to her friends.
Akira looked at her as her friends patted her on the back.
"Did you say it?"
She nodded with a smile.
"I did."
"Good job."
He could hear them faintly from the distance.
"Akira, who's she?" Rin asked as she viewed her son, "Is she in your class?"
"Yeah…" Replied Akira as he started walking to the exit, "Her name is Akane,"
Rin hurriedly caught up to him and glanced down. There was a little tint of red on his cheeks.
"Do you like her?" Asked Rin with hints.
"Huh...?" He was surprised as he looked at her, "...No, I don't! She is stupid! Why would I like her!" he turned away as he tried to hide the blush on his face.
(Yep, he likes her.)
It was cute. Rin cannot stop giggling to herself.
Some days later, Rin at work and Akira at school. The school was going to have a field trip to TOKYO SKYTREE and the teacher was handing out papers to each student for their parent signatures.
"Get your parent's approval," said the teacher as he continued to hand out the paper, "Since we will be going in a couple of days, it will be a one night and two days field trip, they must sign so we can contact them if there's an emergency."
Akira looked at the paper that required Rin's signature on his seat.
(TOKYO SKYTREE…)
He has always wanted to go there, but it's a one night and two days. What if Rin doesn't want him to go?
"Hey, Akira," spoke the boy who has always been full of himself.
Akira jerking his head toward him as he continued smugly.
"My parents are going to find us the finest hotel for this trip, so make sure you don't miss out," he finished showing off as he walked away with some of his underlines following him while they laughed.
"He's so full of himself," said one of the classmates, "Rich people are hard to understand."
"Yukino parents are rich and they donate the most to this school that's why he's acting like the boss." Commented another boy.
"That doesn't mean he has to show off."
Akira gazed back down on the paper. He didn't care what that Yukino kid said. However, he was worried whether Rin will let him join the trip or not.
Couple of days later as Rin was at work, sitting on her desk, Ami, her friend from her previous company, spoke to her a little in angry.
"Rin…!" She howled, "Double date tonight…!"
Rin looked at Ami, who was a little out of it. She had asked her a lot of times and Rin always turned her down, but now seemed like she won't be able to anymore.
"Ami…" a sweat on her head as Rin looked at her.
They have been working together for 5 years. When her job was being transferred, Ami was willing to transfer with her. Well, that's because Ami's boyfriend lived there, the same city they're going to transfer to.
"No excuse!" She hissed at her, "You will be coming, right?!"
"Yes." Rin couldn't talk back as she sweats a little.
Ami wanted Rin to meet with her boyfriend's friend who just got back from America because she didn't want Rin to become a nun. She couldn't bear to see Rin drown in her past love forever. Rin needs a little romance to distract her from thinking about someone all the time. She requested a double date instead.
Akira and this class were heading to TOKYO SKYTREE after they turned their parent's approval paper to the teacher. It was in the afternoon when they got to the hotel that they're going to stay at. The hotel was so beautiful that everyone was in awe by it.
"Wow! This is my first time coming to such an expensive looking hotel!" One of the students voiced out amazingly.
"Of course, it is your first time," commented Yukino smugly, "You should thank my mom and dad for booking this expensive hotel for the lot of you."
Akira didn't care how shady Yukino was, but he was very taken by the hotel.
The teacher then stopped their chit-chatting to tell all the students to head inside as he explained their room and roommate. One room with two beds, so 4 people in each. As it was decided, Akira, Yuzu, Sena, and Taiga are in the same room. They then headed to their room after the teacher was done explaining.
They were so high as they looked out the window from their floor, 23.
"Rin, I will meet you at Shibuya." Spoke Ami as she gets ready for the day.
"Huh? You're leaving early?" Asked Rin as she looked at the clock.
"Of course, I need to get ready for my baby, you know?" She said as she shoved her chair back to her desk, "Make sure to put on the dress that you bought last week, okay?"
"Um… sure…" Her eyes squeezed close with a troubled expression as she replied.
Rin didn't know what to do or how to deal with Ami at the moment.
"I'm sure you will look stunning," She ended with a wink at Rin and left.
Rin sighed after Ami was gone from the office.
(Guess I can't set this one out…)
She went back to work after knowing that no matter what she can't say no.
Akira and Taiga were just stepping out of the elevator and Yuzu were already calling for them from afar.
"Hey guys, come here quick!"
As Akira and Taiga got to where Yuzu and Sena were, they saw what's going on in the corner of the hall.
"What happened?" Asked Akira in confusion.
Yukino and his underlines, some of the boys and including Yuzu and Sena were waiting.
"Why are you guys here?" Also asked Taiga.
"Yukino said he wanted us to find a red crystal," answered Sena.
"A red crystal?" Repeated Akira. Why are they looking for a red crystal?
"That's right!" Claimed Yukino, still acting fully of himself, "I think I dropped it somewhere around here,"
"If you find it, Yukino will give you one of his brand new toy car!" Added Yuzu excitedly.
"Really?!" Uttered Taiga in excitement.
"Of course, only if you find it!" Stated Yukino.
(Why doesn't he just tell the teacher?) Akira thought.
"Alright, let's go!" Uttered the ready Yuzu and then he rushed off.
Everyone left quickly following after.
"Wait!" Called out Akira as he watched them gone in the distance already.
Surely that was a lie, Akira knew that much. Who would carry a crystal…? If it's an adult that would be more believable.
Akira sighed in disbelief as he was also involved and they even believed Yukino lost a red crystal. Well, they're still only children anyway.
Ami and her boyfriend were waiting for his friend and Rin to show up. They had cold drinks while sitting at one restaurant near Shibuya Station.
There was a sound coming from her boyfriend's pant's pocket. He took it out and looked at the screen as he unlocked and read the message.
"'Sorry, something came up. I can't meet you.' What the hell?!" Uttered her unbelievable boyfriend.
"No way. Is that from your friend?" Voiced out Ami a little surprised, "So he can't come?"
"Yeah, seems like it," he replied, "I can't believe he ditched me again,"
"Huh? You mean this is not the first time?" Asked Ami a bit curious.
"No…" he said in a little sweat.
"We can break up right now," Ami stood up as she said, starting to leave.
"No! I haven't cheated on you I promise!" He grabbed her hand as he spoke.
Her head tilted to look at him, "Oh, I was just kidding," She smiled, although it was obvious that it was a lie.
He sighed in relief as she sat down again. Thus he knew she was lying when she said she lied.
Akira was looking around as he walked quietly on the hall, searching for that red diamond he knew doesn't exist. As he went pass a room he halted and walked backward to glance inside. The room was big and had a lot of stuff. Big and small statues, posters, vases, swords, and gems were displaying.
Then as he was staring he noticed someone was inside. A kid and not just anyone but Yukino. He was just about to touch one of the gems inside the glass when Akira opened the door and surprised him.
"What are you doing, Yukino?" Asked Akira although it was obvious that he was about to steal.
"Oh, it's just you, Akira," spoke Yukino as he turned to Akira, "Don't surprise me like that." He glared at him.
"What are you doing in here? Didn't you say you lost a crystal?" Akira asked again.
"Yeah, I didn't lie," he looked at him, "You think I'm lying?"
"No, but what you're about to do is not good," explained a concern Akira.
Yukino seemed surprised slightly.
"Oh shut up!" Retorted Yukino, "You think I'm going to steal it?!"
By hearing Yukino angry shout Akira was startled but he still managed to return.
"No, I just telling you that-!"
"Shut up, you commoner!"
Akira didn't get to finish as Yukino pushed him harshly away; didn't know what is behind Akira.
Akira lost his balance as he stepped backward with his amber eyes round in shock.
"Ack!" He yelped, eyes closed tightly in the process as his back hit something.
* crash *
Yukino stood there in shock at what just happened in front of him. Akira turned around to the source and was shock by what was on the floor. A stripe blue vase-shaped with a dragon was smashed to pieces.
"W-w...N-n-not my fault!" Yukino shook and screamed before the door banged open and some hotel staffs rushed in.
"What's that noise?! And you kids, what are you doing in here?!" Noticed the staff, "You can't enter this room!"
"OMG!" Voice out the other staff in terror, her hands on her mouth, "They broke the vase!"
The male staff look in pale. It was one of the rare Chinese vases. He then glanced at the two boys. Yukino twitched.
"Which one of you broke it?" He asked in a threatening tone, "Are you with the Preschoolers that stay here?"
Yukino shivered and turning pale as the male staff glared at them. Akira was also shaking a little as he looked toward the terrified Yukino.
"I-I… I…"
"I-I am the one who broke it," Akira admitted as he cut in.
Yukino looked at the admitting Akira in shock. He didn't think Akira would admit. He thought Akira would tell on him since he was the one who pushed Akira away.
"Alright, come with me then," informed the male staff as he gestured Akira outside and turned to the female staff, "Take the kid to his teacher. Tell him to look after his students." He furrowed at her as he left the room with Akira.
…
"Um… Where are you taking me?" Akira asked after they were walking in the hall in silent to the elevator.
"To see the owner of this hotel. He happens to be here today," Answered the staff not looking down at the silver head boy as he pushed the elevator button and the door ding open.
They stepped in; Akira was silent after he heard they were going to see the owner.
(Will they call my mom?) Thought the worried Akira as the door ding open again.
The staff walked in silent and rounded the corner as Akira follow him. Then they reached a fancy room.
The staff knocked on the door.
"Come in,"
Akira heard the voice from inside and he started to feel nervous. Will they called his mother? If they are, Akira will be in big trouble.
They stepped inside and the staff started to speak as Akira was behind him.
"My apologies, Manager but this boy here went into the action room and broke one of the Chinese vases."
"The action room?" Asked the manager as he glared at the staff, "It should be locked, isn't it?"
"Well, that's…" He paled away as he started to sweat.
The manager stared coldly at him as his shoulders trembled. Even though he wasn't the one who broke the vase, the manager made it as if he was.
"You can't even look after a room and you're planning to work here?" Asked the manager as cold as his gaze.
The staff was staring at the floor in silent unable to utter a word, shaking.
"So?" Came the manager voice again and the staff jerking his face to look, "Where is the kid? What're his parents doing?"
"He's right here," he replied and then glanced back, "Come over here." He gestured for Akira to steps out.
Akira did. He moved next to the staff and looked at the manager that was sitting in his desk, annoyed.
Akira recognized him from somewhere as he looked at the silver-haired man at the desk with a little anticipation.
(I saw mom watched him on TV sometimes.)
The manager's eyes enlarge as he saw the silver head boy. He was puzzled.
"I believe he is one of teacher Isami students," spoke the staff.
The manager still hasn't moved his eyes from the silver head even as the staff finished explaining. How come his hair and his eyes are so similar to him? The colors are the same. How is that possible? He was confused, shocked at the same time. Just what in the world…?
"Manager?"
"A preschool teacher?" Finally asked the manager as he recovered.
"I believe so,"
"Fine, call him here," he sighed.
"Right away!"
The staff left the room and Akira and the manager remain. The manager was staring at the silent Akira again.
Soft silver hair and concern amber eyes were moving nervously around.
(Minami Preschool… Ha…)
The manager paused with his thought as he noticed the kanji with wide eyes.
(Hanasaki?)
He finished reading the kanji with narrowed eyes.
(A coincident...? Hanasaki… Akira, Class 2-A,) Thought the manager deeply with the pounding sound in his chest.
The surname was familiar. An image of a girl flashed back and faded on his mind. Could it...?
His heartbeat quickened now. He can't believe that he'd allowed her image to float on his mind. He groaned in his throat.
"Akira… is that what you're called?" Asked the manager as he saw the name tag on Akira's uniform.
Akira jolted and looked at the manager.
"How did I know?" The manager spoke Akira's mind, "The name tag on your uniform,"
(Oh, so that's how…)
Akira inner self spoke as he glanced down his chest.
'Minami Preschool. Hanasaki Akira, Class 2-A' was writing on it.
Akira peeked up at him and he was still looking at Akira. Akira started to fidget and feel more nervous.
Soon after, there was a knock on the door and Akira's teacher appeared worriedly.
"Akira!" He shouted as he came to where Akira was, "Yukino told me what happened. Are you okay?"
Akira stared without responding at him.
"Please, forgive my student!" the teacher bowed his head forward, "He's still just a child. He still doesn't know what's right and what's wrong!"
The manager stared at the bowing teacher.
"Isn't it your job to teach your students what's right and what's wrong?" Returned the manager, "Having children running around freely in my hotel is sure to disturb the guests. This place is not a playground. Anyways," he tossed that aside, "I will have to call his parents,"
Akira flinched as he heard. Call his parents?! He's doom!
"Call Akira's parents?" Repeated the teacher as he raised his head.
"This has to be discussed with his parents,"
"But that's…" The teacher was reasoning back but was interrupted by Akira.
"P-please, don't!" yelled Akira, "Don't call my mom!"
They looked at Akira as he shouted nervously.
"Akira…" uttered the teacher in concerned.
"Please, I begged you! Don't call my mom!" repeated Akira emotionally, "I will do anything!"
He will be in big trouble if they call Rin.
The manager was looking at the quivering silver head as tears were already in his amber eyes. When children break something or did something wrong, it would make them afraid if their parents were to know. They would get yelled or hit depending on the parents. Children are really troublesome. However, one side of him wants to know… but more than that it was his job to speak with their parents and guardians for something like that.
"Sorry, but I must contact your parents," Stated the manager with unwavering eyes, "If you don't want your parents to get into trouble then you shouldn't go and break things in the first place."
No way. So they will call Rin no matters what? Akira couldn't believe it. He finally regretted coming to the trip. How in the world is he going to face his mother if they called her?
Rin was just about to leave the office as she finished packing her stuff and to head home to change before meeting with Ami as promised, her phone ring.
"Hello?" She picked up.
"Hey, is that you, Rin?"
"Yes, it's me," Rin answered, "Is that you, Isami? Do you need something?" Said Rin, recognizing the voice.
"Yes, it's me and yes, I'm very sorry, Rin. I let Akira get in trouble," claimed Isami nervously, "It's my fault."
Rin was confused. Did something happen at school?
"Trouble?" Rin asked, arching her brows, "What did Akira do?"
"Yes. Do you remember the Chinese vase that was showing on tv that cost more than $100M?"
(The vase?)
Why would he bring that expensive vase up? Rin thought.
"Yes, something happened?"
"Akira broke it," he implied.
Rin froze.
"Wha…?" Uttered Rin bewildered, "Akira broke it, you said?!" Squeaked the recover Rin, "How did Akira break it?!"
She couldn't believe it. How in the world did Akira break such a vase?
"Akira went into one of the hotel's secret showroom and happened to break it and now the manager of the hotel requires your attendance."
"Hotel?!" asked Rin in confusion, "Aren't you supposed to be at school?!"
"No. We went to TOKYO SKYTREE," Corrected Isami.
"TOKYO SKYTREE?!" Rin shouted in disbelief again, "Why are you not informing me before you take Akira there?!"
"What do you mean?" Uttered the confused Isami, "I handed out some papers in the last couple days; didn't you signed Akira's paper?"
"What papers are you talking about?! I had no idea about your class trip!"
The teacher was confused. If Rin didn't know then how the hell did the paper get signed and turned in?
"Then how come the papers have your signature?"
"Omg! Akira must have done it himself!" Exclaimed Rin still not believing, "No wonder he was leaving for school so early in the morning,"
Rin can't believe it. Why was Akira doing something so reckless?
"Unbelievable," Uttered Isami through the phone, "I failed to recognize your signature,"
"I think I know why Akira didn't tell me about the trip," continued Rin with a sigh.
"You do?"
"Yes. He must have thought if he told me I wouldn't let him go,"
"So that's why he did it?" Asked Isami curious, "No wonder he was afraid when they said they need your attendance,"
"Anyway Isame, what's the address?" Rin shoved that aside as she picked a pen from her desk and ready to write the address on her memo. Her heart couldn't stand still from worrying.
"Oh right," perceived Isami, "The address is…"
Ami and her boyfriend were still waiting for Rin and her phone suddenly ring. She took it out from her bag and was surprised.
"'Sorry, Ami, I can't come. Something came up and I have to go?!'" Squeaked Ami as she read the message, "Is this your excuse?!"
"Is that your friend?" Asked her boyfriend after he recovered from the shock of Ami shouting.
Ami looked at her boyfriend irritatingly and then started to speak as she texted back.
"Yes, seems like your friend and Rin are meant to be,"
"She's mad…" he uttered quietly to himself with sweat on his head.
Then as a minute went by Ami phone rings again.
'I'm sorry! Something happened to Akira. Seems like he broke something very important and I have to go. I'm not lying! I will make it up to you!'
"Akira! Akira! Akira! Akiraaa!" Her voice came raging at the text, "Why is it always about Akira!"
Ami was frustrated. Why is it that everytime something happened, it's always involved with Akira?
"Akira?" Asked her boyfriend.
Ami stared at her boyfriend, still feeling the rage, "Yes, it's her boy,"
"What? She has a guy?" He asked again, raising a brow, "Then why do you want her to meet with my friend?"
"It's her son, Yuji," Corrected Ami, "A very stubborn one,"
"Her son? She has a son?!" Yuji, her boyfriend was surprised.
"Wha-why are you yelling?" Uttered Ami confused, frowning at him.
"I was surprised. Why else."
"I didn't mention it to you before?"
"No, you didn't."
Ami sighed and then she went on and told him about Rin and Akira.
Rin had no time to go home and change, she was in a rush, changing train to train and finally making it to the hotel as she texted her friend.
(I'm sorry Ami,)
Standing outside of the hotel, Rin looked at the hotel image in disbelief. How in the world did Isami or the school have the money to book such a high-class hotel?
As she realized why she was there again, she took a deep breath before she headed inside.
As Rin made her entrance she saw Isami rushing toward her.
"Rin!" He called.
"Sorry Isami, let's talk later," Said Rin, leaving no time for Isami to speak and no time to gaze around either.
Isami knows right away about her worry. He then walked her to the reception desk. Rin told the female clerk why she was there and the female clerk then dialed the phone to someone.
After she was done with the phone she looked at Rin and told her where she needs to head to. Rin hurriedly to the elevator while giving Isami a nod. Rin stepped out from the elevator and went straight to the room as she rounded on the corner.
It was a fancy big room as she stood there at the closed door. Her heart was pounding. Rin then took a deep breath again as she knocked at the door.
"Excuse me," she spoke, "I'm Akira's mother," she told them through the closed door.
By hearing the voice from outside, the manager twitched slightly and his chest tightened. It can't be her, can it? But the voice was so much like hers.
"We have been expecting you," Someone spoke as he came to the door and open it.
Rin looked at the man in black nervously.
"Um… where is my son?"
"Oh, please do come in," instructed the man in black at the door as he stepped aside with a smile, "Your son is waiting for you in here."
"I-I see," Stammered Rin slightly as she made her way in, "Please, excuse me."
Rin froze in her tracks as she saw the person that was sitting in front of her. The two of them were staring at each other as if they were lost in multiple dimensions. She didn't think it was him. Her body trembled a little, didn't know what to do. So the owner was Sesshoumaru, she should have guessed, coming to such a hotel. He looked so mature now and even more handsome than before or being seen on tv. Her chest felt tight; she still loves him.
He looked like he was in shock. His heart was pounding as he saw her come through the door. He didn't think it would be her, the person coming through that door. It's been 5 years since she left, revealing who she really was to him. Ever since then he had come to hate her. He never wished to see her again and yet he couldn't believe his eyes. It was her with her appearance change.
Who was it that changed her? Who turned her into such a breathtaking, mature woman? Her plain look held such beauty that was drowning him again. His hand fisting at his desk as he stared at her, frustrated.
He growled inside against his guts. He must be surprised that's all. Since he hadn't seen her for 5 years.
Pushing that aside, he fixed his firm gaze at her. His amber eyes pierced through her like a dagger.
She flinched.
Such a cold gaze.
Does he hate her? He does, doesn't he?
"Akira's mother… I assume?" He said coldly.
Hearing his cold voice makes her heart thumps, agitated. Why was he making it like he doesn't know her? Well, that was understandable. And his voice was so mature now. How will it sound like if he were to say her name? She would surely faint if it's said by that deep voice.
"Yes…" her responding was blunt, "Where is Akira?" Rin asked since she hasn't seen Akira since she came in.
Sesshoumaru just stared at her. Her actions disturbed him, acting like she didn't care about what happened between them in the past. Sesshoumaru knew it for real now that Rin, a woman who loved money more than anything, is the real her. He reminds himself. He wants nothing to do with her.
Rin glanced around the room, but there was no Akira. The room has a big coffee table in the center and 2 bigger couches on either side of the coffee table and 2 smaller ones vertically.
"Akira?" Rin called, still glancing around the room.
"He seemed surprised when he heard you were outside," explained the man in black as he headed to the big vase that has a plant on it near one of the bookshelves, "Come out now, Akira. Your mother is here to take you home."
Silent filled for a brief moment as Rin stared at it.
"Akira?" Rin spoke as she walked to where he was hiding.
Akira's shoulders jumped as he heard her voice coming to his direction. His eyes squeezed tightly as he crouched down.
Rin stood there as she looked at her son. He was still sitting there, unmoving. She then sighed in relief as she walked to him.
"Akira, come on now," Rin bent down, hands on her knees, "I'm not angry, okay?" Her voice was soft as she tried to soothe his fear.
Sesshoumaru looked at the scene as her attitude changed. His heart skipped a second. For that instant, she looked just like the commoner girl that he'd loved once but was fooled by her.
"...Really?" Came Akira faded voice as he raised his face up at her.
Rin noticed in his eyes that it was teary.
"Yes," Rin replied with a smile, "Come on, stand up," she extended her hand to him.
Akira took her hand and stood up. Rin noticed that he was shaking.
"Akira, it's alright now; mother is here for you," Rin said softly as she embraced him warmly.
His mouth started to purse harder as he tried not to cry but ended up crying.
"I'm sorry. I"m sorry, mom," Akira said in sobs, "I'm sorry!"
Rin's hand was moving up and down on his back.
"There, there, it's okay now, it's okay now,"
Sesshoumaru watched the scene in silence. It was an affectionate scene.
The man in black finally sighed from relief as Akira finally let himself loose.
Soon after Akira stopped crying, Rin turned to Sesshoumaru as she stood up from embracing Akira and walked a little to him.
"I heard from Akira's teacher that Akira broke one of the hotel important vases… Is that true?"
"It is true," replied Sesshoumaru as he lowered his gaze down on his desk, "Please have a seat over there," he said as he organized his paperwork, "We will continue to talk."
"Please, have a seat over here, Miss," The man in black instructed Rin and Akira to the couch.
"Oh, thank you very much." Rin bowed as she took Akira by the hand to the couch.
He smiled at her in return.
(I don't think my savings will be enough for the expenses of the vase…)
Rin was in thought when Sesshoumaru spoke. She looked at the couch in front of her. Since when did he sit there?
Her eyes lowered on the coffee table as their eyes met.
Sesshoumaru frowned. Does she think he likes looking at her too? That should be him, avoiding eye contact, not her.
"I will make this quick if you would pay attention, Ms. Hanasaki. Stop getting lost in your thought. The vase doesn't cost that much."
Her eyes enlarge as Sesshoumaru mocked her then she raised her face and looked at him.
"My apologies, please continued…" she apologized with a faint smile.
Her heart was thumping as Sesshoumaru looked at the papers in his hand.
"The original price of the vase was $XXXM, but I will make it $XXXM instead since your child is not the only one that was in the room at the time the vase broke." Explained Sesshoumaru as he went through some papers.
Rin was shocked by the amount and was angry that Sesshoumaru mocked her. He thought she couldn't pay him that's why he lowered the amount? Well, she doesn't have that much money but she won't let Sesshoumaru looks down on her just because he was feeling pity for her.
"I'm sorry Mr. Inu, but I will pay the full amount,"
By hearing her claim Sesshoumaru glanced at her.
She acts as if she has the money to pay him. But maybe she does? Since money is the most important thing to her, she must have married a rich man to be so full of herself.
"How will you pay me then?" He asked a bit irritated.
Her brows arched at him, "Oh, that…" she trailed off, eyes moving back down at the coffee table, lips pursing in trouble as Sesshoumaru eyes her.
(Don't tell me that money is so important that losing some will kill you?)
He eyed her coldly.
"I can't pay you right away…"
(I knew it. So money is still everything in your life, huh.)
"That's alright,"
"Wha…"
Her head jerked up at Sesshoumaru by hearing his unexpecting words.
"I want it to fully pay by one month," Stated Sesshoumaru. He doesn't care about her circumstance.
"O-one month?!" Rin was surprised.
(Why are you so surprised, Rin? I even give you one month.)
"I can't find that much money in one month," she told him nervously.
"I don't care," returned Sesshoumaru flatly, "One month is more than enough for me. If you can't pay me by then I will take anything you have in your house."
Sesshoumaru stood up, starting to head out after he was done explaining. Rin also stood up in the process and continued what she had to say.
"Please wait!" she stopped him as he was standing up, starting to leave.
Sesshoumaru glanced at her from the corner of his eyes as she continued.
"Can you please give me more time? I promise I will find the money by then," Her eyes were down on the floor as she told him anxiously, "One month is too short..."
Sesshoumaru was quietly stared at her. Why is she making it so hard to find the money? Isn't she good at lying and sweet talking to men? She could just go and sweet talk to Akira's father for the money.
"I can't change something that I have already said."
Rin couldn't believe that Sesshoumaru left after saying that to her. She was paralyzed by his cold demeanor.
"No way…" uttered Rin in disbelief as she watched Sesshoumaru go out the door.
How could Sesshoumaru be so cruel to her? He can't even let her find some more time to look for the money. How is she going to pay that $XXXM in one month? No one can even find that much amount in one month either.
Akira and Rin left the room and down the elevator to the reception desk. Isami and his students were there, waiting for them.
"You were gone so long. Is everything alright?" Asked Isami.
Rin nodded with a smile, "Yes,"
Isami heaved a sigh before he opened his mouth again.
"I'm sorry that you have to be the only one in trouble,"
"What do you mean? Akira broke it so of course, it's my responsibility,"
"No! It's not Akira's fault!" shouted the pink head girl with a worried expression.
Rin stared at the girl and so as Akira. She remembered that little girl. She is the girl that Akira likes.
"Actually Yukino told us everything awhile ago. He was the one that pushed Akira that's why the vase broke." Isami explained with grief.
Akira was now looking at Yukino in surprise. Did Yukino really?
"Oh," Rin's eyes widen and glanced at Yukino, "So that's why."
"Yes, I'm very sorry." Apologizes Isami as he lowered his head as a bow.
"Isami, stop that. It was also Akira fault too,"
"It's not Akira's fault, Akira's mom," said the pink head with sadness, "Why did he have to lie that he broke it?"
Rin looked at the pink head for a brief moment and then smile as she stooped to her.
"Even if it's a lie, sometime you will have to lie."
The pink head was looking at Rin in confused. She didn't understand what Rin meant.
Yukino then went to Akira, "You didn't tell them?" he asked Akira.
"No…" replied Akira.
"Why…?" asked Yukino again, "If you told them then they would have called my parents too. Why didn't you?"
Akira stared at the emotional Yukino in silent.
"Sorry, but Akira will go home with me, is that alright?" asked Rin to the Isami.
Isami gave her a nod and the ok.
"Thank you and I'm sorry for the trouble Akira caused," Rin bowed.
Isami watched as Rin turned to Akira.
"Akira, come on, we're going home," Rin waited for him as she glanced at him and Yukino.
Akira then started to walk to the door as Rin nodded farewell to them.
"Akira!" Yukino shouted and Akira stopped.
"...Because we are friends," responded Akira as he glanced back at Yukino with a smile and then left.
"Huh?" uttered Yukino in shocked, "W-who is your friend!" he blushed and shouted at the empty door and everyone smiled.
"Why didn't you tell them that Yukino was also involved?" asked Rin as they were sitting on the train.
"Because he looked very scared at that time and his mom and dad would hit him if they knew," answered Akira who was looking out of the window.
Rin looked at her son in silent. So he didn't want to get Yukino in trouble that's why he shielded him.
She was happy that what her son was doing isn't wrong, but how is she going to find the money?
Then the train stopped at the station and they walked out, headed to their apartment. Rin made dinner for them after their shower and they ate and headed to bed.
Morning came and Rin woke up without much of sleep. She was worried about what to do for the million dollars that she couldn't sleep at all.
Rin made breakfast for them after she was done dressing. Akira heads to school and she heads to work.
She sat on her desk with a long face as Ami appeared from the door. Ami came to her desk tiredly with a yawn and then took her seat as she turned to Rin.
"Why the long face? You know I'm mad at you alright?" she reminded Rin for yesterday.
"Ami…" Rin looked at her friend, "I'm sorry for yesterday, but right now I'm in a tight situation…"
Ami jerked a brow, "Why is that?"
"Akira got in trouble and I have to pay them back $XXXM in a month," Explained Rin with down spirit.
"Millions?!" uttered Ami in shock, "Why do you have to pay that much?!"
"Well, actually…"
Rin explained the problem to Ami and she was disbelief.
"He wanted you to find that Millions of dollars in a month?!"
Rin nodded.
"OMG! I can't believe this…" Ami said, her hand on her temple, "How are you going to find that much money in such a short time?"
"That's the problem…" Rin eyes on the floor, her fingers laced together on her thighs, "Do you know any place that pays a lot?" she peeked at her friend through her thick lashes.
Ami looked at Rin, hand on her chin, "The only place that would pay a lot is being a hostess…"
"No!" Rin yelled, not accepting that one.
Ami laughed, "If you don't want that then I don't know where else…" she sighed after.
(Seriously, I don't know either…)
Rin sighed.
(What am I going to do…? I thought he would give me some time if I asked him… But he didn't… Could it be that Sesshoumaru was doing this on purpose?)
Her brown orbs widen.
(Did he resent me so much that knowing it was me he would leave no time...?)
There was a pang in her chest as she thought that.
(I have nothing to complain if he really resents me…) her face darkened and her eyes dazed.
A scene from the past flashed in her head as she thought back.
"I like you and you will fall for me." Sesshoumaru was telling her when they came back from the park.
At that time could she think that he was head over heels for her? But the truth is, she was the one who was head over heels for him. And even now, she still loves him. But she could only love him secretly.
"Rin?" noticed Ami, "Something wrong?"
Rin shook her head, "Nothing. I was just thinking what I should do…"
"Seriously Rin, talk to him again. Tell him that you really can't pay that much money in a month. It is suicide." Implied Ami as she was worry about her friend.
"I don't think he will change his mind," answered Rin, "I had already asked him."
"Seriously?!" Ami voice out shockingly.
Rin nodded.
"OMG, what a bastard…" Ami spat.
She then looked at Rin and spoke.
"Anyway, let me ask Yuji if he can help us," started Ami, "I think there must be something he can do, okay?"
"Ami… I'm sorry, but I don't want to involve your boyfriend in this," implied Rin, "But I'm grateful though," she smiled faintly at her.
"Rin…"
"Really," her smile still didn't leave.
"Alright. Just let me know if it's too hard for you,"
"Okay,"
